Equality & Diversity Statement

The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire is committed to valuing equality and diversity within Northamptonshire. He has a duty to promote and implement equality of opportunity across Northamptonshire Police, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue and the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner. This is fundamental in order to build a nature of trust with the diverse communities that each serves.

The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner will work towards ensuring the people of Northamptonshire are receiving an equality of service, whilst taking into account specific needs and requirements, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender, nationality, religion or any other individual characteristic.

He will do this by;

  • Addressing his own office’s ways of working and make certain that equality and human rights considerations are an integral part of everything it does.
  • Holding the Chief Constable and the Chief Fire Officer to account for their effectiveness in tackling issues regarding diversity, equality and human rights.
  • Consulting and engaging with the widest range of people possible within Northamptonshire, listening and reacting upon the views of diverse groups in order to build the trust needed to serve the varying communities.

Our aim is that within the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue, equality and diversity will be integral to our working practice and at the forefront of the manner in which we deliver our services.
