What is the Youth Commission on Police, Fire and Crime?
The Youth Commission encourages young people to get involved in, and express their views, on a range of issues affecting the communities where they live. The Youth Commission of Northamptonshire enables young people to support, challenge and inform the work of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Mr Stephen Mold, and other services including Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service (NFRS). This is an important role, as it helps the Commissioner, Police and Fire make better decisions to meet and understand the needs of local young people.
Who can join the Northamptonshire Youth Commission?
This role is open to anyone aged 14-19 years (up to 24 years for young people with additional needs) living in the Northamptonshire area. We are looking for young people who will be good team players, who will be committed to the project and willing to do all the activities involved. We’re looking to ensure that the Youth Commission is made up of a diverse group of young people who broadly reflect the make-up of the local population, including those who may have direct experience of the police and justice system. In total, we are currently looking to recruit 20 young people.
On the application form you will need to provide details of a named professional who will support your application. This could be a teacher, youth worker, tutor, manager etc.

What happens next?
Applications will re-open on July 1st 2020 and close on July 31st 2020.
When we receive your application we will then carry out some telephone conversations and invite shortlisted applicants to an informal video interview. Interviews will take place in August 2020.
